Notes

McKinley Morganfield grew up with his grandmother in a Mississippi plantation. Because he was always playing in the nearby river, she's the one who got him his famous nickname. At the age of seven, Muddy started practising harmonica, but switched for a guitar ten years later and started playing local events. In 1941 and 1942, he recorded for Alan Lomax, then moved to Chicago. In 1948, he signed with Chess and became famous in the early 1950s. By the end of the decade, he got to travel to the UK
